Residents of the Northwest have been waking up to Dave Salesky on KGW Northwest NewsChannel 8 @ Sunrise since 1988. Salesky also anchors the weather for NewsChannel 8 @ Noon.
Salesky came to NewsChannel 8 from sister station KREM-TV (CBS) in Spokane, Washington where he served as a weather anchor. His broadcast experience includes writing, reporting and producing for radio and television stations in Alaska including, KTUU-TV (NBC).
The Alaska Press Club honored Salesky with their Best Weathercast and Best TV News Reporting awards. Sigma Delta Chi, a journalistic organization, also recognized his work in 1986 and 1987 with an award for the Best TV Newscast in a small market.
Salesky received an Associates Degree in Television and Radio Journalism from Mt. Hood Community College where he later taught a beginning weather course. Salesky is a graduate of Mississippi State's Meteorology Program and is also a member of the American Meteorological Society and the National Weather Association.
