KGW kicks off the KGW Great Toy Drive

KGW Great Toy Drive kicks off today!

PORTLAND, OR — KGW, in partnership with Regence, Wells Fargo and local Toyota Dealers, proudly announces the start of the KGW Great Toy Drive. The KGW Great Toy Drive, a collection event for more than 35 years, takes place now through December 15. The goal is to collect toys for less fortunate families in Oregon and SW Washington. All donated toys will be distributed with the help of 120 local nonprofit organizations and hundreds of dedicated volunteers.

The KGW Great Toy Drive has hundreds of drop-off locations throughout the region. Toys are being accepted at the main KGW studios located at 1501 SW Jefferson Street, Regence offices, Wells Fargo locations, local Toyota Dealerships and nearly 300 other participating partner locations. For a complete list of locations, please visit KGW.com/toy.

“The KGW Great Toy Drive brings the community together each year in the spirit of giving. Time after time we are touched by the generosity of individuals and sponsors who help make the holiday a little brighter,” said DJ Wilson, President and General Manager of KGW.  “We’re especially grateful to Regence, Wells Fargo and the local Toyota Dealers, who join with us in making sure needy families have a chance to bring joy to children on Christmas morning.”

"It's all about the smile. When a child receives a toy and their face lights up, you know you've made a difference. That's what makes Regence and our employees come back to this event year after year. We're proud to mark our fifteenth year of connecting kids with toys. We hope the community will join us, bringing the magic of the season to families in need," said Mark Ganz of Regence BlueCross BlueShield of Oregon.

“My favorite part of the year is the holiday season when we can bring joy to so many children whose families are struggling to make ends meet. Please join our Wells Fargo team members and customers again in the KGW Great Toy Drive. Bring a new, unwrapped toy to any Wells Fargo bank branch in the Portland metro area between Nov. 14 and Dec. 14. You can help us make the holidays special for thousands of our local residents, neighbors and friends. Showing that someone cares about them by donating even just a little holiday gift can have a huge impact on a child,” said Tracy Curtis, Wells Fargo Regional Bank President.

“Toyota and its dealers are honored take part in the KGW Great Toy Drive again this holiday season. Please join us in bringing joy to thousands of kids across Oregon and Southwest Washington by bringing a new, unwrapped toy to one of our 13 participating Toyota dealerships. Together, we can make sure every child receives a gift this holiday season!” said Russ Humberston, Pacific Northwest Toyota Dealers Association President.

Due to the overwhelming generosity of the public and the commitments from many local area businesses to collect toys on behalf of the KGW Great Toy Drive, more children will receive toys Christmas morning.
